Scavenger Hunt:

You may wish to request a Scavenger Hunt (which allows students to answer questions as they tour the Museum of South Texas History) or a rotation guide in your packet to allow teachers in your group to become familiar with the tour schedule procedures.
Click here for scavenger hunt worksheet.

Eye Spy:

Please take some time in the Grand Lobby in front of the store to look for the metal sculptures of native animals found in South Texas. Click here for a copy of the "Eye Spy" to be used in the Grand Lobby of the Museum of South Texas History.

Riding the Range:

If you are looking for the perfect picture opportunity, please find the saddle and back drop located by the elevator doors (behind the staircase in the Grand Lobby in front of the store). A photo here will make you look as if you are a vaquero riding the Wild Horse Desert of South Texas.

Hands-On in the Courtyard:

This is an opportunity often missed by those who have not spent some quality time in the Museum of South Texas History. The courtyard offers a chance to prime and pump water (the jug of water for priming is beside the pump) as the pioneers once did. There is also a steer to practice your roping skills. Inquire at the Admissions Counter or the Museum Store, if the rope is not available.

Discovering the Museum Store:

If you are interested in reading about the history or flora and fauna of our area, the books you are looking for are here. There are also cookbooks and craft kits for those who love to stay busy. Many souvenirs including jewelry, photos, and stuffed toys are also available.
