Three-part adventure series ends at River Crossroads on August 8, 2013 at 6:30 p.m.

The Museum of South Texas History completes the third annual Summer Nights at the Museum at 6:30 p.m. on August 8th when the adventure ends at the River Crossroads section of their signature exhibition, Rio Grande Legacy. During the last night of the three-part adventure series, the spotlight will shine on 20th century history and include pre-show popcorn, the puppet show “I Used to Be a Star,” an adventure game for children, historical figures “come to life,” activities for “kids” of all ages and a prize for the winning game card. P.F. Chang's China Bistro, Inc. is pleased to support this grand finale by providing their signature appetizer to adventurers and to award the summer’s grand prize.

The third Summer Night will kick off promptly at 6:30 p.m. with a puppet show tied to 20th century history. Adventurers will want to ensure they arrive early to get their seats — and buttery treat — before show time. Following the puppet show, children will receive a game card to begin playing FIND ME IF YOU CAN, and P.F. Chang’s will be handing out Chang’s Chicken Lettuce Wraps, a wok-seared filling served over cool, crisp lettuce cups. This night’s game will be a quest to find the artifacts and images that inspired the puppet characters Chalmers the tractor, Lizzie the Model-T and Lionel the train, with a prize awarded at the end of the night for one completed game card. Events highlighted will include the Mexican Revolution, the introduction of the “Tin Lizzie,” World War II and postwar 1950s.

While children are on their quest, the museum will come to life. Historical costumed interpreters will talk about and demonstrate their everyday life, providing adventurers with a unique experience through hands-on activities including sending a telegraph message, testing an irrigation system and competing in a fruit packing contest. Venture outside and have fun with activities that revolve around parachutes, Whirly Birds, hula hoops and more. Enjoy the music played by 1950s historical characters as they spin tunes on a record player. Adventurers that have attended the previous two Summer Nights should be sure to attend this night as there is not only a prize for the night’s winning game card but completed game cards from all three nights will also be entered into a drawing for a grand prize of fine dining and fun on P.F. Chang’s.
